THE HEMP MARKET
— f HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following- cablegram, dated 22nd instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—
Hemp.—Manila market dull and easier. grade February-April shipment sold at £3l. Output from Ist Jaunary to Bth February 172,(ititl bales as against 191,000 for flic same period last year. Stocks iu England 31st January 8,448 bales against 14,059 bales at same time last year.
Sisal. —Market opened linn 'but eased later, consumers not being willing to follow the advance. Good marks March-May shipment No. 1 sold at C.'Sp ; fair average quality Fehruary-March shipment offered at £3-1 15/-; No. 2, 15/- to 20/less. New Zealand. —Market continues quiet, sellers not pressing and buyers holding hack. No first hand sales reported.
