—«. POLICE HANDLE NASTY SITUATION.

Having occasion to eject a man trom a dance for lighting on Saturday night the police came into collision with a crowd at To Aro. Batons were drawn and leinfoicelueiits needed Indore they got possession of two men they were arresting'. In the Police Court today Hugh Tanner, alias Hugh dailies Tanner, aged 25, fireman, was charged with resisting Sergl. .Edwards while in lawful execution "1 his duty, and James O’Neill (32) wntersidor, was charged with assaulting Constable Ritchie, while m lawful execution of his duty, also with resisting. Ritchie’s counsel saiil the men were pleading not guilty and a remand was allowed till to-morrow. No statement was made hy the police.
