INSTRUCTIONS TO CATHOLICS.
Instructions regarding the schooling of Roman Catholic children and imposing obligations of the non-lOatholic party in mixed marriages, have been issued to Catholic clergy throughout the archdiocese by Archbishop Redwood, of Wellington. The ordinances are referred to as follows in the official Catholic Journal, “The Month:” — “No Catholic child may attend a non-Catholie school, primary or secondary, without permission having been first obtained from the Archbishop, who reserves exclusively to himself the power of granting a dispensation in eases which he considers necessary. Failure to comply prevents offenders from approaching the Sacraments. “Another instruction issued by His Grace is in connection with mixed marriages which provides that, on and after April 30, the i.on-Catholie party is now required to undergo a course of six weeks’ -instruction in the Catholic faith, *.nd particularly the teaching of the Church in regard to the Sacrament of Matrimony and the du- . •. s cl' husband and wife.” -
