NEGLIGENT DRIVING
MOTORIST FOUND GUILTY. Wanganui, Last Night. A verdict of guilty was returned by the jury at the Supreme Court at Wanganui to-day when George Mason Glenn was charged with negligently driving a motor car, thereby causing the death of Mi- ( hael Connelly and Alum Joyce Ci others. The ease was the outcome of a collision at a street intersection in W anganui on January 25. Glenn estimated his speed at 25 t> 30 miles per hour, and admitted having been previously convicted of exceeding the speed limit. His Honour, summing up, said the jury had to answer the question: Wins it negligence for accused to drive up to an intersection at the pace he admitted doing. It had been said Ilia; the other car ran into Glenn’s, but even if Ibis bad been the ease it would make no difference. The jury after four hours’ retirement returned with a verdict of guilty, adding a strong recommendation for mercy. Accused was remanded for sentence.
