MOTOR TRAFFIC CONTROL.
COMPILATION OF NEW REGULATIONS.
February 2a, Tuesday next, has been lived as the date for the conference which has been convened by the Minister of Transport (Hon. \\\ A. Yeitch) to compile a model set of motor regulations, designed iti ensure practical observance.
The conference, which will lie held in Wellington, will cover all phases of the regulations dealing with motor-traffic, and will be atiended by representatives of mo1, ir interests, local authorities, automobile clubs, the Police Department, and the Transport Department.
In November last the Transport Department circularised local bodies and others interested, inviting them to forward suggestions for amending', curtailing, or adding to the Motor Vehicles Regulations, 1928, and proposals for the improvement of the motor lorry regulations. Many replies were received by the Commissioner of Transport (Mr. J. S. Hunter), and these will, no doubt, be dealt with bv llie conference.
According to an announcement made recently by the Minister of Transport, it will be the aim of the conference to produce as a replacement to the present regulations, such a set as can be rigidly and universally enforced. The conference will he presided over by the Commissioner of Transport, ami will last t'or three or four days. It is not likely that proceedings will he open to the Press.
