LAST NIGHT’S EARTHQUAKE

The nerves of the populace were edge at about 0.23 o’clock last evening when, houses swayed |, v a severe earthquake. The direction seemed to be east, and west. Fortunately there was no variation of the direction, otherwise considerable damage would probably . have resulted.
