(! O VEEN OR - GENERAL’S FAREWELL MESSAGE.
To the strains of “Auld Lang Syne” and the farewelling cheers of a’thousand throats, the retiring Go-vernor-General ('Sir (Charles Fergusson) and the Lady Alice Fergusson left New Zealand for Home bn hoard the Rangitata at 4.15 p.m. on Saturday. The departure was wit - nessed by thousands of people. FINAL MESSAGES. His Excellency the Administrator has received the'following wireless message from General Sir Charles Fergusson: — “Being uoav beyond the territorial limits of New Zealand, Lady Alice Fergusson ad I send to you and the people of Ncav Zealand our warmest thanks for untold kindness during five happy years, and for the wonderful fareAvell they have given to us on our departure. We leave Avith the happiest memories and bid .one and all an affectionate farewell. —Charles Fergusson.” A reply 'has been sent as folloavs :
“I thank you on behalf of the people of 'New Zealand for the kindly message expressed in your radiogram. The people one and all have made abundantly clear during
your farewell visits through (lie Dominion their sadness at parting with you both, ami they will always remember with gratitude your owi and Lady Alice Fergusson’s great services during the past five years —Michael Myers, Administrator.”
