MANAWATU RABBIT BOARD.

AIONTIILY A lEETI NG. The monthly meeting 1 of the Maim wain Rabbit Board was held in the secretary’s office this afternoon, presided over 'by Trustee B. G. (lower (chairman). Also present were Trustees \V. E. Barber, R. Boswell, and the secretary (Mr. R. Rangiheuea). M|r. 0. R. Barron (inspector) was also in attendance.

INSPECTOR’S REPORT. The following is (he inspector’s report: — “During the past month I have been engaged in the general inspection of properties in the Board area, and in following up with inspection those properties on which further work had been requested last month. Tn all cases this request for further work has been complied with and particular attention will be paid to these properties so that no increase in the pest can take place. “The great amount of broken weather experienced during the past month has delayed farm work to a great extent and consequently there has been less time for rabbit destruction work, but nevertheless the district is in vary fair order for this time of the year. During the months of January and February the results of the spring breeding are in evidence and the pest is more noticeable in these months of the year hut although last spring was ideal from a rabbit breeding point of view I think there is a decided decrease in the number of rabbits in evidence this year when compared with the previous summer. “The trapper engaged by the Board has started work on the Rangiti'kei river bed areas and good results are being obtained, and conditions for trapping should still further improve as soon as a ran of line weather is experienced. Owing to the length of feed and the continual rains keeping the grass wet, rabbits will not travel any distance at present and consequently do not trap so well. “In the remaining parts of the Hoard area conditions are good from a fumigating point of view and if farmers keep a watchful eye over their properties no increase in the pest should take place. During the coining l month I shall be engaged in general inspection work.”
