81 ■(iCESSFUL ANNITAL MEETING. The officials of the local Racing Club deserve the warmest praise for the excellent arrangements made lo*ensure the success of the annual meeting held on Wednesday and Thursday last. Everything went off without a hitch. The officials did not anticipate a record attendance or turnover as certain conditions militated against such a happening- this year, but. in nil the (-iron ms lances express satisfaction with the tinal results. The unseasonable weather preceding flic meeting militated against, the attendance of a large number, and the drop in investments at Taranaki meetings forecasted wlmt would happen this year locally. On top of which the Wellington •Club dates were brought a little nearer. From a social and racing point of view the meeting was’ one of the most; enjoyable held.
