Mrs. i. Ross, entered the Palmerston North Hospital yesterday to undergo a slight operation. Miss Symons, of Wellington, was a visitor to the local races this xveek.
Air. D. R. Ogilvy’s friends xvill regret to learn that lie is confined to his home with an indisposition. Airs. L. Bullard -is spending a few days holiday with her sister, Mrs. J. G. Honore, of Avenue Road. Air. L. Goldfinch, of Wellington, xvas in Foxton on business on Wednesday.
Air. D. Gilbert was in Poxton foC,. the raeejs and spent a few with Air. and Mrs. W. E. Barbel 1 , of Afotuiti.
Aliss E. Owen, of the nursing staff of the Wellinbton Public Hospital, is spending a fexv days holiday with her parents. Air. and Airs. R. Owen.
The friends of Captain C. Larsen, of Alanawatu Heads xvill be pleased to learn that there is a slight improvement reported in his condition. Air. W. Alainwaring xvas a visitor to Foxton this week. Air. Alainwaring was for some lime a few years ago, attached to the local P. ami T. staff.
Aliss H. Y. Spring, who has completed her course at the Training College has been appointed a probationary assistant on the staff of the local District High School and xvill commence duty on the 3rd February.

Mr. Thomas R. Roydhouse, forniii ly edit,ir of the Sydney Sunday Times, and now literary representative of the Melbourne. Argus in Sydney, was in Palmerston North yesterday, leaving at mid-day for Napier. .Mb'. Roydhouse, who is a ** member of a well-known journalistic family in New Zealand, is making a brief holiday visit to the Dominion after twelve years’ absence, aud will return to Australia at the mid nf this month.
Mr. S. Read, of Wellington, is on a holiday visit to Foxton and is renewing old friendships. For many years Mr. Read took a very keen and practical interest in local public affairs and served on the- Borough 'Council and School CommitHe. Some yoafrs ago he removed to iNew Plymouth and subsequently lo M el[ington where he now resides. Mr. Read,"despite advancing .'ears (In' is now approaching his eightieth birthday), enjoys comparatively good health. Mr. Read is pleased to notice 'the progress i'oxlon lias made in recent years.
