FATAL ACCIDENT IN OTAKI GORGE.

YOUNG MAX’S HEAD CRUSHED,

An accident attended by fatal results occurred in the Otaki Gorge ou Thursday morning. William Green, aged 25 years, w hose mother lives at Kafkorai (Dunedin), was engaged with Gilbert Pritchard, hauling 'logs out- of the bush for Corrigan’s mill, which is situated about 14 miles up the Gorge. One log slipped from the chogks and crushed Green’s head against another. The injuries ware severe and Dr. Alilne took him by car into Otaki hospital from which institution he was later removed by ambulance to the Palmerston North ■hospital. Death ensued last evening about ( o’clock, ten hours after the accident happened.
