FOXTON FIRE FIGHTERS.
AN APPRECIATION. Foxton has every reason to be proud of its Fire Brigade. Tt has certainly proved itself to be an “up to (lie minute Brigade’’ on more occasions than one and the manner in which a lead was got out in connection with last night’s outbreak is deserving of mention. There is no plug in Reeve Street although there is one in Frances Street, of which Reeve Street is really a continuation. but about six hundred yards from the scene of the outbreak. There is also a plug in Purcell St., some three hundred yards from the fire Imt at the back and on the outskirts of the town. Without hesitation, when the alarm was given last, night the Brigade proceeded to the Purcell Street plug and in a very short time had a lead playing .on the fire, which, unfortunately owing to the lateness of the alanu, was hopeless. But to get that lead the Brigade had to travel over two rough scrub covered hills and a gully in the dark. Everything was done according to plan, the location having been previously considered, all of which reflects the greatest credit on 'Superintendent H. Reid and his men.
