TOWN HALE.
Finding Clues is a detective’s business —but not too many of them. Imagine, therefore, the embarrassment of Raymond- Griffith when he finds a flood of clues, each pointing to a different suspect! This is the situation in “Trent’s Last Case,” Fox 'Filins’ mystery feature. Griffith enacts the role of a society sleuth, and when his host at a dinner party is found dead the next maiming, complications—and suspicions—follow thick and fast. Although both Griffith and Raymond Hatton, who plays the part of the crusty old uncle, won their fame as comedians, each has an entirely new type of role as compared with any of their previous screen efforts, and the comedy scenes as subordinated to the mystery and tragedy phases of the stofry. The unexpected ending of the picture forms a fitting- climax to 'the unique method in which the story is presented. Howard Hawks, director, has succeeded in evolving a new technique in telling mystery stories on the screen, and this adds immeasurably to the spectators’ enjoyment and interest as the film progresses. The solution of the murder, however, is so-cleverly hidden until the very end that few if any “fans” will be able to guess the outcome beforehand. With “15 Minutes front Hollywood,” (comedy), Scenic and News. Usual prices.
On Monday a melodrama of no-, vel plot and amusing situations will Im the miain attraction. It carries the title “The Main Event,” and features Vera Reynolds at the head of a star emit.
What is described as the greatest show of the year will 'be presented on Tuesday, New Year’s Eve. The big features are Rex Beach’s “The Michigan Kid,” and “Anybody here seen Kelly.”
