There was a large attendance at the opening day of the Manawatu Racing Club’s meeting held in fine weather on Boxing Day. The totalisator- handled £51,763 for the day as against £43,999 for the first day last year. Results: — Tokomaru Hurdles Handicap, 1;; miles Mr. R. McMullian’s b.g. Fine Acre (A. A howling gale with drenching rain squalls made conditions very unpleasant yesterday. The totalisator handled £34,105 as against £33,777 last year.
