FOXTON RACING CLUB.
During the last few weeks the Foxton Racing Club has had extensive alterations carried out r to its appointments on the course with a view to providing greater facilities for caterers,■'officials and the general public. The' stewards’ stand has had a much needed addition made to it. Above the offilce part of the building another room has been added while the press roonf has been extended and the existing accommodation made more comimodius in all respects. .'Conveniences have also been installed upstairs and a ,'counter-lunch will he provided for the stewards in the buidlhig at the next meeting. . This stand, has been greatly improved by the new additions. In the caterers apartments under the grandstand conveniences have also been installed and much needed improvements carried out while in thei public booth and counterluncli appointments concrete floors have been laid down.
The Whole work reflects, the greatest credit on the Club which is to be congratulated on its enterprise. Nominations this year total 246, a- slight drop on last year’s figure, but the Club lias received nominations "'from horses which in the ordinary case, would not be running at Foxton, had the date of the meeting, not been altered. In passing it might be mentioned that last year the now famous Nightmarch was among the horses ■which nominated for the local meeting. The horse, however, was scratched at the last uninute and did not run. Since then Nightmarch has made a fortune for its owner and we wonder if this year’s meeting will produce another Melbourne Cup winner! The eourse generally is at present looking particularly well after the recent v T et spell. The track is in perfect condition and the whole of the grounds reflect great credit on the .caretaker (Mr Simpson). There is every indication _ that there will be a large attendance at the' “picnic” meeting next month, and the Club is ot overlooking any little point which might add to the comfort, convenience and attractiveness of their appointments.
