The following miscellaneous statistical information is supplied in the “Abstract of Statistics” for December :• —
Vital statistics, 1928:—Numbers —births, 27,200; marriages, 10,537; death's, 11,811; deaths of infants under one year, 984. Rates par 1000 of mean papulationbirths, 19.56; marriages, 7.55; Heaths, 8.49; infant mortality, rate per 1000 births, 36.18. Live stock in Dominion, 1929: Horses, 298,986; cattle, 3,445,790 (including 1,371,063 dairy cows in milk and dry); sheep, 29,051,382; pigs, 556,732. Agriculture - Acreages, 192829:—Wheat, 255,312; oats, 73,101; barley, 19,'500; perennial ryegrass, '21,536; cocksfoot, 11,255.
