ROAD CYCLE RACING.
A three-mile road race was held last evening which attracted nine competitors. The course was ground the Johnston 'Street block. There was a good attendance of tlie public hut the event was marred by inclement weather. Two spills caused some excitement. The spectators in Main Street crowded around the finishing post leaving very little room for the competitors and in the second lap Smith, while endeavouring to improve liis position in this locality touched Satherley’s back wheel and fell heavily Ibu't fortunately escaped serious injury. A few minutes later when the ridei’s were in the vicinity of Speirs’ timber yard, P. Honour was also thrown heavily owing to liisfront wheel touching Martin’s machine. He' also escaped serious injury but received extensive abrasions. The race proved an easy win for Hussey and resulted as follows : W. Hussey (ssec.) 1 F. Wallbutton (15sec.) 2 E. Robinson (15sec.) 3
