HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 14th instant, from the High 'Oommissioner for New Zealand, London: — Hemp.—Manila market steadier on account of smaller weekly output ifilgures but very quiet. Closing value Janunlry-March shipment “J” grade £3(3. Output Ist January to 30th November, 1,45(5,000 bales against 1,279,000 bales same period last, year. Stocks in Manila, on 30th November, 197,000 against 133,000; in Great Britain 10,575 against 15,130. JanuaryMareh shipment at close quoted up to £37 10/-, No. 2 buyers £35 5/-, but very little offering at present. New Zealand matiiket unchanged and .no pressure-either way. Nominal' comparative closing values for December-February shipments as at last rates quoted. iSisal. —Market has re-acted and good business has been done in October-November and December, fair average quality at £35 to £35 15/-. Good marks No. 1 after being offered at £36, eventually done at £36 10/-.
