CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor)

Sir, —Will you pei'mit me to say that having travelled by motor ear on most of the highways of -the North Island —and I contribute, to their upkeep—the run from Sandon to Levin through closely settled country and adjacent to thriving towns is comparatively the worst. In places the road surface is more like a river bed than a highway and the loose metal is a real danger, particularly when passing other ears. It’s about time the highways, authorities in these parts ■.become aware of their responsibilities for they appear to have gone to sleep. Yours etc., TRIPLE TAXPAYER.
