N OVEMBER GR A DING RETURNS.

The grading returns for hemp, tow, stripper tow, and stripper slips for* the month of November have been issued by the Department of Agriculture as follows:- — • Ports G.F. H.F. L.F. C.

Twenty-two bales at Picton were graded fine. Twenty-four bales at Auckland, 175 at Wellington, 22 at Foxton, 12 at Bluff were, rejected. Three bales at Wellington were condemned.

The number of bales in each grade were as follows, the number for the corresponding period of last year being given in parenthesis :—Fine 22 (70), good fair 228 (518), high fair 2697 ( 2950), low fair 1959 (2021), common 855 (650), rejected 233 (262), condemned 3 (nil), a total of 5997 bales as against 6471 bales graded the saqie period last year, a decrease of 474 bales.

The number of bales graded at each port wa.s :—Auckland 1000, Wellington 2389, Foxton 1472, Picton 154, Dunedin 187, Pt. Chalmers 51, Bluff: 744. The following shows the detailed

grade 1099 (1136), 3rd grade 513 (596), condemned 60 (36), a total of 1746 bales as against 2100 bales graded the same period last year, a, decrease of 354 bales. The number of bales graded at each port was: —Auckland 307, Wellington 578, Foxton 450, Picton 28, Bluff 318, Dunedin 65. ■ Stripper Tow:—One hundred and fifty-six bales at Wellington were graded 2nd grade and 48 bales were graded 3rd grade, a total number of 204 bales as against 170 bales graded the sarnie period last year, showing an increase of 34 bales.

. Stripper Slips:—Three bales at the Bluff were graded Ist grade, 9 2nd grade and 40 3rd grade. Twenty-one bales at Dunedin were graded 3rd grade. Twenty-five bales at the Bluff were condemned. The total number graded was 98 bales as against 96 hales graded the same period last year, an increase of 2 bales.
