It. lias often been held that there is plenty of gold in the deep leads at Maikaia (says the Otago Daily Times) and a reported nugget A.eighing 47 ounces, won from the Winding Creek claim, would seem to go far to prove this contention. The nugget represented the labour of two men for 15 days.
