PERSONAL.
Captain S. Holm, of Wellington, was a visitor to Fox lon yesterday. 'Mrs. J. Bell, who has been undergoing special treatment at the Palmerston North Hospital for some time past, returned to Foxton yesterday, much improved in health.
The death occurred in Christchurch yesterday of Mr. William Wardell, one of the founders of the well-known grocery business. Death followed a prolonged illness. With his brothers Mr. William. Wardell founded the business in Dunedin and Christchurch and later opened ■a branch in Wellington. •Mr. and Mrs. J. Linklatey returned from iW'aikaremoana yesterday, where they attended the official opening of the power station. To-day Air. Linlldater attended the Levin, races and on Monday he will open the Bulls Rose Show. Next month Mr. and Mrs. Linklatev will take up their residence at the local seaside.
There passed away at the Palmerston North Hospital on Thursday afternoon Miss Linda Ananda Jonson, daughter of the late Air. Andrew Jonson, of the Avenue, Foxton, aged 57_ years. The late Miss Jonson was born in Foxton and was practically an invalid from birth. Some months ago owing to increased feebleness she was removed to the Palmerston North Hospital for special treatment. While in the hospital she became, quite a favourite with the nursing staff by reason of her happy disposition. Mrs. Grahame Herd, of Pirie Street, Palmerston North, is a sister of the deceased. The interment took place privately at Palmerston North yesterday.
