Mrs.' D. R. Barron and Miss I. Patterson are spending a feAV days holiday at the local seaside. Allis. A. Wiills, of Wellington, is at present spending a holiday Avith her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brewer, of Foxton.
■Mrs. Goodnll, avlio has been spending n. holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Bullard, left, for Otiira yesterday.
Mr. and Mis. J. H. Reid, avlio have, been on holiday with their son, Air. H. Reid, of Hall Street, left for Wellington to-day.
Nurse Lockwood, of Palmerston North,, local Plunket Nurse, paid her last visit to Foxton to-day. In future visits Avill he made by Nurse Rose, of Rongotea.
A Avedding of local and district interest took place in All Saints’ Church this afternoon when Doreen A lay, daughter of Air. T. McGee, of Clyde Street, Avas united to James Charles Nieol Lyon, of Rongote'a. Rev. W|- H. Walton performed the ceremony, after which a reception Avas held at Fairey’s,, Air. Palmer, fireman of the local ■'Railway loco, branch, has been transferred to Palmerston North and leaves Foxton to-day. His pos sition is to he filled by Air. Toon, who has been transferred from Nelson, and avlio arrived in Foxton last night. Mr. Toon is an ex-rep. footballer and well knoAvn in Nelson SAvimming circles. There passed away on Saturday night in the Dannevirke hospital, Air. Robert John Holms, wellknoAvn in Danneviirke and East Coast farming circles, also as a veteran of, the Great War, at the comparatively early age of ,41 years. Deceased Avas a brother of Mr. A. C. Holms, late of Levin, arid a nephew of Mrs. 1A .F. Stevenson, of Park Street, Foxton. A lie. and Mrs. G. A. Troup (Mayor and Mayoress of Wellington), arrived in Foxton at midday to-day to participate in the opening of the Foxton Horticultural Society’s Summer Show. Mr. and Airs. Troup were met in Levin by 'the Rev. W. H. Wlalton avlio motored them to Foxton, where they Avere entertained to dinner by the Society at Whyte’s Hotel, later inspecting the school buildings preparatory to officiating at the opening of'the shoAV.
