EXTRA TRAIN SERVICE TO OTAKI.
ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS
Some time ago Air. W. H. Field, AI.P., protested against the 1.15 p.m. train from Wellington to Otaki on (Saturdays being discontinued. On Alonday he received the following letter from the AEinister of Railways (Hon. W. B. Taverner): —
“You will mnemiber that this train was given a trial over a period of some months during the summer, hut the support accorded it. was not very promising. It will lie of interest to you to know that a further effort ; will be made this summer to attract week-end traffic to stations between Paekakariki and Otalki. The 1.15 p.m. train from Wellington will be extended to Otaki on each Saturday from December 21 to February 1, inclusive, and if business is sufficiently promising the train will be continued for a further tern.”
