GAS WORKS.
OCTOBER WORKING. Th& gasworks,report was submitted as follows ,to last, night's Borough Couneii meeting: — The amount of gas manufactured during tho •month of October was 370,500 ft.,. which with the amount in the holder on October Ist 17,000 ft. made a total of 387,500 ft. During. the month 289,800 ft. was used by consumers, 20,000ft-.' at the works and there was 17,000 ft. in the holder on October 31st, making .0 total of 326,800 ft. accounted for and leaving 60,700 ft. representing 10.3 per cent, unaccounted for. Twenty-nine tons 17 cwt. of coal were carbonised, yielding 12,412 c.ft. of gas to. the ton and producing 7 tons of coke.
The receipts for the month totalled (£177 12/5 and were made up as follows.: —Gas sales (lighting) £9 17/4, heat and power £124 16/10, coke sales £7 15/3, tar sales £24 Q/- } services and fittings £7 17/6, miscellaneous £2 16/6.
The expenditure for the month totalled £192 13/2 and Avas made tip ps follows < —fCoad £B3 16/6, salaries and wages £4O 14/-, services and fittings -£2 14/6, tools 17/9, cartage arid freight, 10/8, working expenses 12/6, Interest and Sinking Fund £63 7/3. -
The gas manager (Mr. W. S. Heyes) reported'that-the*plant was operating . satisfactorily. ' Four blocked services were attended to during the month, one new service laid and one cooker installed. — Adopted.
