TREATMENT OF INFLUENZA.
GREAT CHAIMS FOR NEW DRUG.
London, October 14,
“The most valuable agent discovered for the treatment of inlluenza,” is the “British Medical Journal's” description of a new drug, known as SfU.P. 3'fi. It is claimed that the drug, which is injected into the patient, will revolutionise the treatment of influenza.
An investigating doctor showed that the fever was reduced in a day and a half compared with three days by ordinary 'methods; that a headache lasted a day instead of two; and that the days in bed were reduced to three, compared with six formerly. The injection must be delivered iu the first 48 hours of an acute illness —the earlier the better. It is claimed that an early dose wards off an attack, while a dose at a slightly later stage means a rapid recovery.
