Messrs J. K. Hornblow and A. J. Phillipps (chairman and secretary of' the Palmerston 'North Hospital Board) and Dr. Shore of) the Health Department, proceeded to Waipukurau to-day to inspect the Pukeora Sanatorium, in connection with the group control proposal to he discussed 'by a conference of Hospital Board delegates at an early date.
Mother Mary Bertrand, the last of a band of pioneer Dominican sisters who iranie to New Zealand sixty years ago, and who established tiie Dominidan Convent at Dunedin, celebrated the sixtieth year of her life as a nun on Tuesday. The celebrations included Pontifical High Mass and a garden fete, also a presentation which took the form of a. scholarship in her name providing tuition at the convent for secondary pupils. Mrs. Goodall, of Otira, is spending a. holiday with her mother, Mrs. W. If. Bullaa'd, of the Avenue. Mrs. Goodall passed through some nerve-rocking experiences during the earthquakes in that region.
