YOUTH AND THE CHURCH.

In acknowledging a welcome at a young people’s social in connection with the Presbyterian Church last evening, flic Rev. W. H. Walton, vicar of All Saints’, said that for some time past there had been a certain amount of indifference on the part of the young folk in connection with church activities. This was probably due tq the after effects of the Great- War. He thought, however, that it was a passing phase and he was pleased to notice a change for the better in this connection. It was a good thing that the yoipig people of all denominations should be brought together in social intercourse under the auspices of the church, which would also stimulate a greater interest in theilr own church activities. He hoped ..that such gatherings would continue in the future. His remarks were greeted with a koarty round of applause.
