The Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1929. BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
WILL the Beautify mg Society be allowed to go out of existence? At present it has come to the end of its financial resources -without which it is unable to complete its plan of activities which, in the past, have added to the attractiveness of the town by converting waste and neglected areas into beauty spots. In this connection we need only refer to Ihakara Garden and Easton Pairk. Included in its plans for the future were the improvement of the northern approach to the borough, Victoria Park and terracing and planting with suitable shrubs the pound reserve at the south end of Alain Street. Tins work will "have to be abandoned unless the Society is revived and the practical sympathy of the public aroused.. In the past the public have generously assisted the Society and the Borough Council lias subsidised the funds raised. A public meeting will he held next week of all interested to endeavour to revive the Society and we appeal to all who have the welfare of the' town at heart to he present.
