DARING ROBBERY.

PERPETRATORS CAPTURED.

Auckland, October 1,

A sensational. robbery was committed by two men at ihe premises •of the Arctic Fur Company, Upper Queen Street to-night, furs valued at about £IOO being stolen. The men gained entry by smashing a glass door. A young girl who was standing on the footpath nearby ran into a house and told her mother, who rang for the police. On (returning to the road, the girl saw the men emerge from -the shop and run down the street, carrying two heavy packages.

Four detectives and one constable arrived and a thorough search of the neighbourhood was started tat once. The search had extended to Waver ley (Street, which runs behind the shop, when two men were seen to leave a house. They were stopped and questioned. They were preparing to enter a taxi and ;in their possession the detectives found a sugar sack stuffed full of furs and a large valise, which had been left in the shop by the manager. As a result, the men were arrested and taken to the central police station. The furs, which were piled high on. the table, were identified by the manager of the company.
