FIRE BRIGADE.
FOXTON WINS COLEY "SHIELD.
On Tuesday evening representatives from „the local Fire Brigade journeyed to Feilding to compete in the annual billiajrd tournament for the Coley Shield. The Foxton Brigade Avas represented by Firemen j H. Huff, E. Robinson and W. Broad and were successful in annexing the trophy from Feilding, which Brigade has held the shield‘since 1924'. Superintendent H. Reid and secretary A. Walls alo accompanied the team. The scores are as follows: Fireman H. Huff 101 defeated Fireman Gaskin 32; Fireman E. Robinson 102 defeated Fireman Fisher 96; Fireman W. Broad 105 defeated Fireman F. Packer 64; a total of 308 to 192, Foxton winning the three games by 116 point*.
iFireman H. Huff also carried off the Levy Fern for the best break of the evening. The players individual best breaks were as follows : •’ .
Fireman H. Huff 37; Foreman Gaskin 13; Fireman E. Robinson t s 26; Fireman Fisher 20; Fireman Broad 14; 'Fireman Packer 9. At the conclusion of play the visitors were entertained to supper and a pleasant social time spent. Superintendent Sporle presented Superintendent jH. Reid with the trophy and congratulated his team ’oil their line play. Superintendent Reid suitably responded. The Coley Shield is -at present on . exhibition in Walls’ window.
The Foxton Fire Brigade desire to acknowledge receipt of £1 toAvards the Brigades social fund from Mr. iS. H. Poole and a tournament billiard one from Mr. R. Owen.-
