THE Prime (Minister lias'promised that there will he no unemployment in the Dominion in five weeks time. II this promise can he fulfilled lie will have accomplished something a little short of miraculous and his name will go down ,to posterity as a public .benefactor. (We are all looking forward to the time when every able-bodied man will be employed and that hardship and suffering caused by unemployment will cease. The Premiar’s promise will raise the hopes of thousands in this Dominion, but if the promise is un - fulfilled and has been made for some ulterior purpose, then the fafe of the Government is sealed. The former pre-election promise of almost unlimited loan money at 4.v per cent, failed to materialise and the Government has had to climb down on other policy proclama - tions, hut f:his latter optimistic out - burst has such a direct application to relief that its non-fill(ilment will completely destroy confidence in the present administration. ’
