THE HEMP MARKET.
iHIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 28th instant, from the High Commissioner for Ncav Zealand, London: —
Hemp:—{Manila market depressed and Aveak under selling pressure and poor support. Closing value for “J” grade Oetober-De-cemibelr shipments £36. iSisalMarket quiet. Tanganyika No. 1 quoted sellers, Sep-tcmber-November shipments, fair average quality £39; (good marks £4O 5/-. No. 2 meets little better enquiry on account of relative cheapness compared Avitlr Mexican. Closing values, good marks £3B 10/-; fair average quality £37 10/-.
Mexican unchanged. Good AVihite £-10 2/6; special brush £43 12/6. Ncav Zealand continues dull, and buyers holding back for nearer parity Avitli Manila. Early this week there, were buyers of high points at £34 10/-, but shippers held for £35. Buyers since retired, and best bid now, £34. Other nominal comparative closing values unchanged for September-Novemiber or OctotberDeceiriber shipments.
