TOWN HALL,
The famous melodrama, “The Silent House,” has been filmed, and very successfully too. It twill lead to-night’s programme fit the Town Hall. The story begins in China, where Richard Wins ford robs Dr. Chan Fu’s Joss of its jewellery. Chan Fu follows him to (London, and finally kills him. In his hypno - tic power he has Winsford’s partner’s daughter, whom he calls T’Mala. Before Winsford’s death he loft a half-written note for his heir and nephew', George, which tells that some of the jewels have been turned into bonds, and that both the latter and the priceless “star” afre hidden, ijbut it does not say where. Chan Fu pretends to be*the young Winsford’s friend, and the law informs them that the bonds must be found and redeemed within twenty-four hours. Then follows ia series of thrilling and hecti-c. incidents, where Chan Fu tortures his victims, hut is later killed, and Wjnsford collects both T’Mala and the bonds as his prLe. The story ends hajppily. In summing up this production it can he said that it is one of the best advertisements for British Films that has been seen to date. William Boyd and Alan Hale are two dare-devil steel workers in “Skyscraper,” Boyd’s latest P.D.C. starring vehicle, which Howard Higgin directed and which combs to the Town Hall on Monday next.
