Mrs. John Ross, of Thynne St., has returned to her home after a holiday visit to Auckland.

A Press telegram from Wellington announces the death of Captain John Bo,lions, master of the Tiitanekai, who was taken ill at sea about a fortnight ago. The friends of Mr. Wadsworth, of the clerical staff of the local Railway Station, will regret to learn that as a result of his recent illness he will be unable tp resume work for about six months. Mr. G. Wilson, of Palmerston North, who u as sent down to act in a relieving capacity when Mr. Wadsworth entered the hospital will continue to Jill the vacancy.

The resignation qf Mi*. T. Chipper, assistant on the staff of the local jDisrtict High School was received at.yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board. Mr. Chipper has accepted an assistantship at the Levin District High School. During his connection with the local school Mr. ‘Ch'ippeir has taken a keen interest in the school games and as a teacher possesses high qualifications. His departure at the end of the month will be regretted by the local staff and scholars. -

-Just shovt.of becoming a centenarian was Mrs. Serbia Nata 'Neilsen, whose death has occurred at Hairini in the Auckland district. Mrs. Neilsen, who was 99 years and nine months of age, was born in Denmark aud came to New Zealand in the sailing ship Rik Stax 50 years ago. (She and her husband lived at Stony Creek (now Whakarongoj, (Palmerston North, for some years and afterwards removed to Dannevirke, where her husband was engaged bi fanning. Air. Neilsen died 14 years ago. She retained all her faculties until shortly before she died. 'Mrs. Neilsen is survived by, one daughter, Airs. Charles Jacobsen, of Hairini, several grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
