BOROUGH COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING,

The usual monthly meeting of the Foxton Borough Council was held last evening. REPORTS were read and dealt with as follows : W)ATER ANDD RAIN AGE REPORT. The foreman (Mr. W. Neville) reported that during the month the following work had been carried out: —Laying two water services, cleaning two house drains, installing one hot water’ service, grading with'the road foreman, and helping a ratepayer to wreck a windmill , and general maintenance work, bylaws, etc. \

During the month 1,455,000 gallons of water was pumped, the maximum current used was 32 amps.—^Adopted.

ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT. The road foreman (Mr.* A. G. Huntley) reported that during the month the road staff had been engaged in the following work: — Carting metal. and patching ruts Noi 6 Line, Duncan, Purcell, 'Colev and Whyte Streets, (Sandon and Avenue Roads, discharging chips and sand, weeding water channels Johnston and Cook Streets, trimming up Moutoa, Sandon and Avenue Roads with the grader, screening sand and general maintenance. Twenty-five drums of eolfix have recently come to hand and we are now carrying out repairs to bitumen surface on various streets. The portion of Whyte Street which was tar-sealed two seasons ago requires a dressing of bitumen and chips and will be done as soon as weather conditions arc favourable if approved. Other maintenance work will be attended to during the coming’ month. — Adopted. GENERAL. Permission was sought Ipy the Shannon Dairy Co., to erect a cream stand in Norbiton Road. Aftefr discussion the matter was re- , ferred to the Works Committee. 'The-, tender of Mr. R. Byne of £4 per.-annum was accepted for the lease of the Council’s section on the corner of Avenue Road and Futter Street.
