HOROWHENUA POWER BOARD.
BUSINESS STEADILY GROWING. The analysis of the connected electrical load of the Horowhenua Power Board to August 15tli was presented at the monthly meeting on Tuesday, by the Engineer (Mr. •J. A. Smith), and showed the following position:— k.w. Lighting 1006 No. Tl. h.p. Industrial motors 337 2865 Milking motors 448 630 k.w. Heating and iron points 3021 2194 Ranges 397 2496 Water-heaters 668 420 No. of consumers — Connected 3064 Applications 3107 Total connected k.w. 8786 INSTALLATIONS DURING MONTH.
The Engineer reported that, since the last meeting of the Board, 40 applications from new consumers and 21 applications for extensions to existing installations had been received, comprising- two ranges, 18 water-heaters 23 milking and separator motors, three pumping and five industrial motors. Thirty-three new consumers and 37 extensions had been connected, included eight ranges, 21 water-heaters, 26 milking and separating motors, and six industrial motors —a total increase of 132.4.
The chairman (Mr. G. A. Monk) commented on the rush for installations, particularly in the dairying industry, and said that if this continued it would not lie long before the' whole area that it was possible to link up would he connected. INCREASE OF REVENUE.
The Secretary (Mr. P. W. Goldsmith) reported: “Four months of the present financial year have passed and the revenue from the sale of electricity shows an advance on the same period of last year of £I3OO. It must, however, be remembered that the last quarterly account paid to Mangahao was £7OO above the same quarter last year. Even so, a nett advance of £6OO for the period means ah increase of £l5O per month.”
