FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Foxton United Sports Association was held on Wednesday evening l last, presided over by Mr. W. J. Jewell (President). Also present were Messrs J. M. Thomson, W. Jewell jin’., S. Austin, D. R. Barron, D. Christie and the secretary (Mr. L. Couch). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs S., J. and W. E. Barber, IV. Ross, H. Hameir and G. E. Smith. A letter was received from the Foxton Racing 'Club, granting the Association the use of the racecourse on Labour Day for the sports. The Club was accorded a vote of thanks for the permit. 'Stewards were appointed to cooperate with the caretaker in the protection of the Club’s property.
It was decided to write Messrs C. C. Wakefield and Co., of Wellington, asking if they would be willing to donate a, cup and medal to be competed for annually at the Association’s sports meeting, the trophy to be named the Wakefield Challenge Cup. It was decided to pay the Association’s annual subscription of £4 4/- to the N.Z.A.C.U. The programme for the meeting was drawn up and approved as follows:
1. —Whirokino Handicap, (Novice), 6 laps. Ist £6, 2nd £3, 3rd £l.
2. —‘Himatangi Classic, (rolling start). For machines up to, but not including 350 c.e., 7 laps. Ist £B, 2nd £3, 3rd £2. 3. —Foxton Racing Oub Handicap, 6 laps. Ist £7, 2nd £3, 3rd £2. 4. —Moutoa Handicap, 7 laps. Ist £B, 2nd £3, 3rd 2. 5. —Manawatu Championship, 7 laps. Ist £B, 2nd £4, 3rd £2, and cup valued at 10 guineas. 6. —United Sports Association Handicap, 9 laps. Ist £lO, 2nd M, 3rd £2.
7. —P Junket Flying, (rolling start), for machines 350-500 c.c., 5 laps. Ist £G, 2nd £2, 3rd £l. 8. —Marotiri Handicap, 7 laps. Ist £B, 2nd £3, 3rd £l. 9. —'Foxton Special, (rolling start), for machines 350 c.e. and over; riders to lap GOsecs. or better, 10 laps. Ist £lO, 2nd £4, 3rd £2. 10. —Consolation Handicap, 8 laps. Ist £B, 2nd £4, 3rd £2.
