For ‘being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car, Charles Stanley Claflk, a traveller, was fined £29 by a Wellington Magistrate on Tuesday. “As he bad not driven the oar,” said the Magistrate,. “I will not in this case suspend the license.” A trainer who has stallions to prepare for macing has to be ever alert, as it is always (possible that such a horse will become vicious. When drying down Torpedo Huon after working the horse at Epsom, his trainer (McMahon) was caught unawares. The pacing stallion suddenly grabbed McMahon with his teeth across the bridge of his nose and inflicted a wound which required several stitches. At the monthly (meeting of the Foxton Borough Council Mr. G. A. Hobbs, wrote asking that tls Council sell him portion of the old roadway fronting his property at the end of Purcell (Street near the riverbank. It was pointed out that this roadway separated Mr. Hobbs’ property from the borough and that he was a ratepayer of the Manawatu County Council By selling him portion of the road mentioned the borough was reduced by that amount of land. It was decided to inform Mr; Hobbs that if he had his section transferred into the borough the Council would take steps to sell him the portion of land lie desired.
