Manawatu Herald. TUESDAY, AUGUST 13, 1929. CHILDREN’S HEALTH CAMP AT THE SEASIDE.
MR. Byron Brown, of Otaiki, has generously donated an area of four acres at the Otaki seaside as a permanent site for a children’s health camp. We would suggest that the Foxtoii Harbour Board follow such a good example by providing a similar area at the looal ' seaside. Many years ago the Government set aside an area at the seaside as a health resort, still known as the “Wlharangi Sanatorium.” The land was controlled by the Marine Department and subsequently was transferred to the Harbour Board as an endowment. We feel confident that the Board would readily fall in with 'this suggestion which we commend to the chairman (Mr. Linklater, M.P.) There are numbers of children of school age between Feilding and Palmerston X. who would benefit by such a camp if facilities, such as shelters and fii'esh water, were provided. And there are generous people , fin [the ! towns mentioned who would yladly contribute towards providing the necessary accommodation if the project wore submitted to them. Anyhow, in the meantime we will leave Messrs Linklater and Nash M.P’s. to express their views on the subject.
