PLUNKET SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of the local branch of the Plunket Soriety was held in the Society’s rooms yesterday at 2.30 p.m. Those present were: Mesdaunes F. Robinson (chair), Christie, Trueman, Bain, A. Ross, Proeteg, Baiker, Adams, Martin, Perreau, Fergusson and Barron (hon. see.) Apologies for absence Avere received from Mesdaines Ogilvy, W. Smith and Doel. Mirs. Fergusson (Oi’oua Downs) Aras accorded a Aveleome by the President as a new member of committee.

Accounts amounting to £2B 2/8 Avere passed (for payment. Corn’s weighing maichine yielded 4/8 for the month of July. Mrs. D. R. Barlron was appointed visitor for the month. SITE FOR PLUNKET ROOMS.

It was decided to accept Mr. Nesbet’s offer of a site in Clyde Street, next to the Royal Theatre for the erection of the Plunket rooms and to have the property vested in the Borough Council 'and to communicate this request to the Borough Council. Mesdaimes Robinson, Procter, Trueman, Perreau, Bain and Barron were appointed to meet the Advisory ißoard at an early date re plans and specifications for the new rooms. The meeting ended with usual vote of thanks to chair. MATTER, BEFORE THE BOROUGH COUNCIL. A letter was read at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council from the Plunket Society intimating that the Clyde (Street section had been decided on as the site for the new building and asking the Council if it would take over the section and building when completed. The Mayor said that it might be some time before, the building was erected and that the Society should pay rates until that time. It would also be neeessafry for the Society to pay transfer fees.

It was decided to take over the section and building when completed, provided the Society paid rates up to that date and cost of ■transfer.
