Described by the police as a “iilthy-miinded young cuss," T'ack Lee, a Chinaman, aged 21, was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment at Tiimalru Magistrate’s Court on Saturday morning, for a “Peeping Tojnt” offence. Senior-Sergeant Gibson said that the man hadilbeen seen on the verandah of a house near the window of a room which was occupied by •two young women. He apparently became ajlraid, and left Ms shoes and somio Chinese gramophone records behind him. Several complaints had been made about “Peeping Toms” in the locality. When al the police station aiceused had said that lie had no need to peep through windows. He also said that lie had a Chinese wife, but would not bring her to a pig-sty like New Zealand. 'The Magistrate (Mr. C. R. O'rr Walker) said that he could not accept accused's story. It was a bit thin. It was - a 'simple ease of a “Peeping Tom;” and a substantial penalty must be imposed to prevent other mien similarly minded from flightening and sealring women.
