RESTORATION OF SALARY “CUTS.” The Government is at present considering the question of the reductions made in the salaries of Civil servants under the Public Expenditure Adjustment Act. In the House of Representatives on Thursday, Mjr. J. A. Nash (Palmerston) asked the Prime Minister whether the Government proposed to introduce legislation during the present session dealing with the reductions made in the Civil servants' salaries under the Act mentioned. Sir Joseph Ward replied that the representations made (by the several Service organisations were being carefully considered, and a statement would be made at an early bate.
