CLOSER SETTLEMENT.
RESULT OF WERAROA BALLOT. At Levin yesterday a ballot was held foil’ leases of nine subdivisions of the Weraroa Central Development farm. In the morning, applicants for the various sections appeared personally before the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. H. W. C. Macintosh) and /members of the Land Board for examination. At the conclusion lof the lengthy interrogation, the ballot was held with the' following results: — Lot 1, 64 acres: Mir. Claud Amos, Levin; 147 applicants. Lot 2, fifi acres: Air. J. L. Thomas, Okoia; 114 applicants. Lot 3, 64 acres: Air. J. L. Aleynell, Kimbolton road, Feilding; 112 applicants. Lot 4, 63 acres: Mrs. H. Al. Fogden, Mill Road, New Plymouth; 108 applicants. Lot 5, 64 acres: Airs. A. J. Joblin, Grey town; 94 applicants. Lot 0, 67 acres: Mr. Chas. Bi’ickland, Ohatu, Main Trunk; 129 applicants. Lot 7, 71 acres: Air. Wm. O’Donnell, I,Botanical Road, Palmerston North; 84 applicants. Lot. 8, 67 acres: Air. Wm. Whelan, Hawera; 91 applicants. Lot 9, 64 acres: Air. I. D. ParsmiSj Wiopd Street, Palmerston N.; 139 applicants.
