FIRE BRIGADE BALL.
OUTSTANDING SUCCESS
The Foxton Fire Brigade’s annual hall, which was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening was an outstanding success. The Brigade went to a great deal of pains in decorating the hall but their efforts were fully rewarded as the hall has never looked -better than it did on Tuesday evening. The main hall, and under the circle were deedrated with coloured streamers, lights, balloons and greenery, while the colour scheme was also carried out in the supper-room. Visiting firemen were present from all parts of the district and the floor of the hall was nicely filled with dancers when Larkin’s orchestra struck up. In the porchway between the hall and the supper-room the fire engine was parked, an emergency measure as well as a means of decorating the porchway. During the evening members of the Eire Board visited the dance and an apology for unavoidable absence was received from the chairman (Mr. A. If. Gierke, of Wellington). The Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau) carried out the duties of M.€.
During the evening a storm waltz was put on, the lighting effects for which were very fine. Novelties of all description's were introduced by the committee and the multi-col-oured shower streamers, blow-outs and caps greatly added to the amusement of those present. The supper, which was carried out by an energetic ladies’ eomlmittee was par excellence. The dance was proclaimed a most enjoyable function by all present. The Brigade is deserving of much credit for the excellent mannelr in which it conducted the dance. During the evening Mr. Perreau presented Fireman R. Parker with his five-years’ service medal and congratulated him on his long association with the Brigade.
