METHODIST CHURCH
SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON FUNCTION. A very successful “afternoon” was held yesterday in the Town Ball supper-room on behalf of the Methodist 'Church funds. The stalls were well filled and the thanks of the church officials are due to the large number of people who sent gifts' of calkes, produce, sewing, etc., and to all those who contributed to the success of the function. The cake stall was presided over by Mesdafmes Chrystall and Berry while Mesdames Honore and Hands had charge of the sewing stall and Mesdames Dorset and Riches sold the produce, and Mrs. Parkin was in charge of the competition, which was won by Mrs. Dorset. A large number of ladies were in cha|i'ge -of the afternoon tea and the visitors were well catered for. Solos were contributed by Mrs. Riches and Miss Wilson and much appreciated. A cob-web social will be held in the Town Hall supper-room on Tuesday evening in aid of the earthquake relief fund. The ladies are working hard to make this as great a success as that held yesterday afternoon.
