HOSPITAL SUBSIDIES
MAYOR REPORTS ON CONFERENCE OF BODIES. The Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau) reported "to last night’s Borough Council meeting on the 'conference of local body delegates convened by the Kairanga County Council last week to consider an increase in OoA’erument. subsidies to the hospital board. A copy of the minutes of the conference receded from the convening body Avas also read by the Toavu Clerk. The Mayor said the conference had (been both interesting and enlightening. The chairman of the Hospital Board (Mr. J. K. Hotrnblow) Av'ho had been imfited ;to attend, had addressed the conference at length and his remarks had been appreciated very much by all present. He had explained in a very capable manner, the working of the Board and administration of the Hospital generally AA’hieh had been very enlightening to those present. After hearing the explanations made by the Chairman members from all parts of the district expressed their appreciation of the ■manner in Avhieh the hospital Avas administered. 'Mr. HornbloAv had hidden nothing from the conference and had done some plain talking. He made it quite clear that there AA'as no chance of there being' a decrease in hospital rating but had slated that further levies Avould probably be made in the future.
