BOGUS CANVASSER.
SENTENCED TO SIX MONTHS. Blenheim, Last Night. John Anthony Crawford, aged 40, pleaded guilty to six charges of fraud'and false pretences arising out of his operations in the North Island as a printing canvasser. lie secured orders for printing calenders and advertising timeI aides from Kaponga, Hamilton, New Plymouth and Stratford shops and accepted deposits ranging* fx*om 5/- to £1 5/-, promising deliveries from different printing linns he alleged he represented. Ail the offences occurred towards the end of last year. Accused arrived dn Picton, where lie was arrested on another charge. Crawford was sentenced to three months on the first five charges, concurrent, and to three months, cumulative on the last charge.
