THE ABAW|AS AND THE GERMANS. Rotorua, July 2. An interesting ceremony took place yesterday afternoon, when the Arawas met- Captain von Ari auld and officers of the Emden at the Grand Hotel. A casket containing the flag flown by the Arawas during Hie .war, depicting a Maori warrior defying a German, was looked in the presence of Captain von Arnaukl and the Arawa c-hiefs. One kev was given to Captain von Arnanld and the other to the paramount chief. The casket will be taken io the Maori Church and there kept symbolising that all hostile feeling between Maori and German was ended. Many returned soldiers were present.' iCaptnin von Arnanld, deeply moved, spoke in terms of the deepest feeling and gratitude.
