VALIDICTORY.
A very pleasant little function took plaice in the Rongotea Masonic Hall last Wednesday evening When the many friends of Mr. Don. S'cott. tendered him a farewell social and dance. The 'hall was crowded and •those present had a most enjoyable evening, musical items and danleing keeping them fully occupied until midnight. After a very dainty supper, Mr. C. W. Liggins made a stall .presentation to Mr. ■Scott, who is leaving this district to take up a teaching appointment at Reef ten. Mr. Liggins spoke in very high terms of : the guest of the evening, mentioning that he would he a great loss to the local f ootball chib which he had faithfulljyseirved for the past two seasons. Mr. Liggins also made reference to the scholastic achievements of Mr. iSeot-t, stating that both at the Palmerston North Boys’ High School and at Victoria College, Wellington, he had always been held in high regard by his teachers. Mr. Liggins stated that he himself and the whole district sincerely regretted Mr. Scott's departure. He was going to a “shaky” place, but his friends were convinced that he would do well. Mr. Liggins jithen presented Mr. Scott with a gold-mounted fountain pen engraved with his initials. Mr. Scott suitably responded. Dancing ’’was then resulmed until a late hour. At the conclusion of which those present sang, “Anld Lang Syne” and “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”
Mr. Scott left Foxton on Friday afternoon.
